White Ladies Aston

Bridgetown is developing a Border Morris repertoire; Here's our version of White Ladies Aston.

We're joined here at Folklife 2006 in Seattle by Gerry, Arthur and Oliver great musicians and dancers with The Vancouver Morris Men. This video was taken by Innis Pencarrick also of VMM who taught us this dance. Thanks a lot chaps even Visa can't buy the friendship and support we get from you !!
Sam's Gone Away

Bridgetown developed new kit to perform at The Merrie Greenwood Faire, a renaissance recreation faire in Richland, Washington. It was great fun and we did six performances in total mixing up dance, song and banter. We started all our faire performances with songs.

Here Dick Lewis is leading the morris men in Sam's Gone Away with spontaneous harmony only possible before dancing. Billed as "Dancers of renown" at the Merrie Greenwood Faire we danced, sang and acted three sets per day, Saturday and Sunday. The temperature reached 38C / 101F Sunday afternoon - it was a sweaty one!
Orange in Bloom

Bridgetown dances a mixture of traditions - this is a dance from Sherbourne.

Our Foreman is calling Orange in Bloom thought to have been brought from Spain although another theory has the dance named Orange and Blue under the assertion that the tune came from Holland these being the colours of their flag. Another guess is that it was named after Oranjeboom the Dutch lager.

Beaux of London City

Bridgetown performing an Adderbury single step dance.

This is a fun dance. Beaux gave us a chance to pull in our youngest member who as you can see, embraces dances that involve shooting with ease. Beaux of London City is probably the oldest dance that we perform, reputing to date back to the 1500's.
